Advanced Gift Card Settings

Overview

The Advanced Gift Card Settings page allows you to configure how regular products in your store can automatically generate gift cards when purchased. This feature enables you to sell physical or digital products that convert into gift cards upon purchase, expanding your gift card offering beyond traditional gift card products.

Regular Products as Gift Cards

What This Feature Does

This section allows you to designate specific products in your store as "trigger products." When customers purchase these products, the system automatically:

  • Creates a new gift card
  • Sets the gift card value equal to the purchased product variant's price
  • Delivers the gift card to the customer

How to Configure Trigger Products

  1. Access the Product Selection Area
  • Navigate to the "Regular Products as Gift Cards" section
  • Click the "Browse" button in the search field

  1. Select Products
  • A product picker will open showing all non-gift card products in your store
  • Choose the products you want to convert into gift cards when sold
  • You can select either:
  • All variants of a product (recommended for most cases)
  • Specific variants only (if enabled in your store settings). Please, ask support to enable this feature.

  1. Review Your Selections
  • Selected products will appear in the list below the search field
  • Each product shows:
  • Product name and handle
  • Selection type (all variants or specific variants selected)
  • List of included variants with their prices

  1. Save Your Changes
  • A save bar will appear when you make changes
  • Click "Save" to apply your configuration

Understanding Product Selection Types

All Variants Selected (Blue Badge)

  • The entire product and all its variants will trigger gift card creation
  • Recommended for most use cases
  • Simpler to manage and understand

Partial Variants Selected (Orange Badge)

  • Only specific variants of the product will trigger gift card creation
  • Useful when you want different variants to have different behaviors
  • Shows "X of Y variants selected"

Removing Products

To remove a product from your trigger list:

  1. Find the product in your selected products list
  2. Click the delete icon (trash can) on the right side of the product
  3. The product will be removed immediately
  4. Remember to save your changes

Predefined Gift Codes for Regular Products

What This Feature Does

This section allows you to upload predetermined gift card codes that will be automatically assigned when customers purchase your trigger products. Instead of generating random codes, the system uses your pre-uploaded codes in sequence.

When to Use Predefined Codes

  • Physical gift cards: When you have printed cards with specific codes
  • Promotional campaigns: When you want specific, branded codes
  • Partner integrations: When codes need to match external systems
  • Bulk gift card sales: When you need to track specific code batches

How to Upload Predefined Codes

  1. Open the Upload Interface
  • Click "Upload gift codes" in the predefined codes section
  • The upload form will expand

  1. Assign Codes to Products (Optional)
  • If you have gift card products configured, you can assign codes to specific products
  • Select a product from the "Assign codes to product" dropdown
  • Choose a specific variant if needed, or leave blank for all variants

  1. Enter Your Gift Codes
  • In the large text area, enter your gift codes
  • Format: One code per line
  • Example:

    GIFT2024001
    GIFT2024002
    GIFT2024003

  1. Submit the Codes
  • Click "Submit codes" to upload
  • The system will validate and process your codes
  • Successfully uploaded codes will appear in the codes list below

Understanding Code Status

The codes table shows important information about each uploaded code:
