Physical Gift Cards

Overview

Gift Card Hero allows you to sell and manage physical gift cards alongside eGift cards. This guide explains how to configure, customize, and manage physical gift cards within the app.

Note: Gift Card Hero does not print or deliver physical gift cards. Store owners are responsible for delivering physical gift cards to customers.

Enabling Physical Gift Cards

By default, physical gift cards inherit all denominations and images from eGift cards.

Steps to Enable:

  1. Navigate to the Gift Card Hero app in your Shopify admin.
  2. Go to the Physical Gift Cards tab.
  3. If not enabled, click Enable Physical Gift Cards.
  4. A confirmation message will appear: "Your physical gift card product was created and connected to Gift Hero app."

Important: Do not remove the automatically created physical gift card product, or the functionality will stop working.

Configuring Physical Gift Cards

Steps to Configure:

  1. Click Configure physical gift product to manage product settings. You may upload custom designs, edit denominations, enable/disable inventory tracking or tax settings on the physical product edit page.

Additional Settings:

  • Disable gift card greeting message

    • Prevents customers from adding a greeting message to physical gift cards.

      Duplicate gift card details in additional notes

    • Copies gift card data (message, recipient, sender, name, address) in order notes (necessary for some ERP systems)

      Show delivery address fields

    • Displays fields for customers to enter a shipping address directly on the product page. This is necessary if the gift card shipping address is different from the checkout delivery address.

      Custom amount for physical gift cards

    • Allows customers to specify a custom gift card denomination for physical gift card.

  • The SKU field is physical-custom-amount by default.

Setting Min/Max Allowed Amount

  1. Click Set minimum and maximum amount allowed.
  2. Enter values in the Minimum allowed and Maximum allowed fields.

Managing Gift Code Auto-Assignment

Gift codes can be uploaded and automatically assigned to orders.

Steps to Enable Auto-Assignment:

  1. Ensure Auto assignment is Enabled.
  2. If needed, click Disable to turn off automatic assignment.

Generating New Gift Codes

  • Enable Generate new code on sale to automatically generate and load a gift code if uploaded codes are depleted.

Uploading and Viewing Gift Codes

  1. Click Upload gift codes to add new codes.

    View the status of gift codes:

    • Assigned: Code has been linked to an order.
    • Unused: Code is available for assignment.
    • With errors: Code failed to upload or assign correctly.
  2. Click View all to see the complete list.
